Bio
Born from the influences of the rave scene to the rock driven sound of Led Zeppelin, Killaflaw are an explosive act. They consist of Benn Helm – vocals, guitar and studio synths and Andy Paton – synths, samplers, drum machines and trumpet. They have been working together for four years but joined forces officially two years ago due to commitments in other bands.
Killaflaw are a cross over act melding a wide variety of musical genres morphing from hard hitting rock driven breakbeat, bouncy electro to to more acoustic blues infused guitar, vocal and trumpet material. Howling Wolf’s song ‘Killing Floor’, a song covered by Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, is where the Killaflaw name originates and they have also done their own unique version of this song.
Benn Helm has performed in many bands and music projects. He gigged in the The Royal Albert Hall and Summer Pops with The Jones’s, backing James Brown, and has been in bands such as Nanmess and Circus. Nanmess were a hard hitting rock band whilst Circus combined Blues and psychedelic rock. He writes his own acoustic material and was also a member of Hendrix-esq band Kush. His original interest in the rave scene has brought them together. His raw, energetic and bluesy vocal style, unique songwriting skills and talent for memorable and catchy guitar riffs is essential to the Killaflaw sound.
