Bio
Formed in 1998 in Santa Cruz, CA the female fronted band featuring vocals by Moana Strom and a host of musicians from other bands (Nate Kotila of Fire Whiskey, James Lucas of Moria) and insightful and often political songwriting from guitarist Matt Cleaver. While the group recently changed their name to ‘In Love and War’ in 2006/07, they had their largest success as Stalins War, including a split release with the Seattle group Aiden called A Split of Nightmares, in 2004. Fierce and relentless, the sound and stage presence of Stalins War has been compared to the likes of Boy Sets Fire and Strike Anywhere, cleverly fusing the best elements of hardcore, punk, and metal creating a passionate blend of metallic guitar leads, heavy breakdowns, and dueling male/female screams and melody. As a follow-up to their four independent releases and a 7“EP, Stalins War released their last full-length, “Rebirth From Flames”, on Unfun Records.
